# Migrations & Imports

## Overview

While [independent research shows that 62% of small businesses don't use any accounting software yet](https://www.tight.com/embedded-accounting-smb-vertical-software-report),
leaving a major greenfield opportunity for your platform, Tight has successfully completed thousands of migrations
from legacy accounting platforms, including QuickBooks Online, Xero, Wave, and Bench.

This proven import functionality allows you to transfer a business's accounting data into your embedded accounting
platform,
preserving the business's historical financial information while ensuring data integrity throughout the migration
process.

Tight makes this easy for the business owner or the bookkeeper, allowing fully automated multiyear imports from several
legacy accounting providers, including:

* QuickBooks Online (QBO)
* Xero
* Wave
* Bench

The import process automatically maps and cleans up the business's Chart of Accounts, showing the changes made along the
way and allowing changes to be made in the process. The import process takes anywhere from 5 seconds to 3 minutes,
depending on how many years of data the user is migrating.

## Bulk migrations

When moving an entire user base from a legacy accounting platform onto Tight, it is much more efficient to import your
users' data programmatically. You can kick off the import to Tight with a single API request. The Tight API will alert
you via a Lifecycle Event Webhook as soon as the import is completed, at which point the Tight API makes the comparative
verification reports available via API.
